VOLUNTEER ROLES

ALL volunteer roles are important and integral to the success of Beervana. Not all roles will be working behind the bar, but ALL are necessary, and your volunteer contribution is very much valued and appreciated!

SET UP DAY

General role ensuring front booth/bars/seating areas are set up for the first session, as well as other odd jobs as and when they come up. You will be on your feet and there will likely be some heavy lifting involved! This year there are two choices of shifts for the setup day.

BAR SUPPORT STAFF

General support role ensuring bars are stocked, empty kegs are removed, overflow or spillage buckets are emptied, empty glasses are collected, bar areas are kept clean and tidy, etc plus other odd jobs. You will be on your feet and walking the beat!

WATER STOCK

Replenishing water jugs on all bars and ensuring areas are tidy. You will be on your feet and walking the beat!

BAR STAFF

Bar staff working behind the bars pouring drinks and taking payment. You will be given the tasting notes for the beers you are pouring and your Duty Manager will run through everything where needed.  You will be on your feet and in the thick of it!

FRONT BOOTH

Greeting attendees as they arrive, you will be responsible for passing out programmes and glasses to those entering the venue, and ensuring tables are restocked for the next session.

RESEARCH SURVEYS

Collecting data from attendees. You will be on your feet and approaching Beervana attendees while they enjoy the event. However, no one can do this for the entire session surely? So you will also be used to fill in any gaps in other roles as and when needed (helping on the front booth, handing our wristbands outside the turnstiles, odd jobs as needed) and swapping into other roles as necessary.

MEZZANINE

The Mezzanine Level will house a private area for brewers.  You will be at the door making sure only brewers enter and will be responsible for that area.  Odd jobs as needed.

LUNCH TEAM - BETWEEN SESSION VOLUNTEERS

Those on the “lunch team” between sessions will be performing the mezzanine role between 4.15 pm and 5.15 pm and will either start their session one hour late (Sessions 1 & 3) or finish one hour early (Sessions 2 & 4)

PACK DOWN DAY

General role ensuring all areas are packed down correctly. You will be on your feet and there will likely be some heavy lifting involved.

A QUICK HEADS-UP

Volunteers are a huge help to the festival. Especially in the current climate of staff shortages across the brewing, hospitality and events industries.

We do need to make it clear though that if you register to volunteer, use your free session ticket and then don't turn up to your volunteer session you will be invoiced for the ticket.

If you have any questions about anything, please get in touch.
